Khafi Knox-McDowell

A native of Philadelphia, PA one of a family of 8 children, she has 20 years of experience with accounting, business and financial management, and community program planning within the educational and non-profit sectors. She has acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Business Management and a Masters’ Degree in Accounting and Information Technology.  She currently serves on the Board of Masjid Muhammad/The Nations Mosque in addition to functioning as the Chief Financial Officer of the organization. 

Khafi has been a key leader of several community-based events and organizations over the last 20 years. Including serving as the lead coordinator for the Islamic Festival in Philadelphia for the last 9 years. The Islamic Festival is an annual event that has been held for the last 26 years celebrating and sharing the unity and diversity amongst Muslims with the general community. The festival is the oldest established Muslim festival in America. 

She has also served on several global interfaith exchanges from Rome with the Focalare to Ireland with the Global Peace Foundation. She was also a part of a 30-day study tour in Malaysia where a group of young Muslims traveled throughout the country meeting with government officials, religious leaders, and other youth leaders with opportunities for productive exchange that could benefit all of humanity. 

She has been a key planner and leader of the NYAA (National Young Adult Association) a young adult organization geared toward getting young Muslims more involved in building a successful community life through the utilization of their professional skill sets. In addition, she has been a key contributor to NASIM (New African Students of Imam Mohammed) an organization created to share the beautiful balanced approach to Islam through the teachings of the late great Imam WD Mohammad. Through this conference which is in its 5th year, the group has been able to facilitate discussions about Politics, Community Life, Culture, and Business with key high-level officials from their respective areas. 

Khafi has also graduated from the Karamah Executive Leaders Program. The Karamah Program is a high-level introduction to Islamic Jurisprudence, Leadership and Conflict Resolution. The invited participants to the program traveled from all around the world. The Howard University Mini MBA Program for Ministers and Spiritual Leaders was another great accomplishment. During this program, she led her team to receive honorable recognition for the final requirements of the program. A second-generation indigenous Muslim American she is a resident of Washington DC she lives there with her husband of 9 years Barrett.  

Albert Sabir

Albert Sabir is the Executive to the Imam, the International Liaison and the Chief Operations Officers for the historic Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque. He is a student of the late Imam W.D. Mohammed, Muslim-American Spokesman for Human Salvation. 

He holds a BA in History and Minor in Social Science from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He holds a Certified Public Administrator a Certified Facilitator Diploma from George Washington University, D.C., a Certified Career Development Facilitator Diploma from Hofstra University, Long Island, NY, and a Muslim America Logic Institute Diploma in Quranic Arabic, focusing on grammatical analysis.  Chair, Board of Directors, Masjid Muhammad Inc. and member of Masjid affordable housing and business development.

He manages several broad community project and programs such as the monthly 30,000-pound Food Distribution Network for Masjid Muhammad including the SHARE Program which he co-chairs. Overseas the Masjid Muhammad Mentoring Team through the District of Columbia One Congregation One Family Program. This program supports families experiencing homelessness and housing instability.

He is lead Organizer and Masjid Representative for the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN).  This is a network of approximately 50 houses of worship that is broad-based, multi-racial, multi-faith, strictly non-partisan, District-wide citizens’ power organization, rooted in local congregations and associations, and it trains and develops leaders to address community issues, and to hold elected and corporate officials accountable in Washington, DC. 

Albert has traveled to several countries participating in human rights, interfaith engagement, Peacebuilding, preventing extremism, international religious freedom and promoting global stability: N. Ireland, S. Africa, Philippines, S. America, S. Korea, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Italy
